작품에 등장하는 소녀 캐릭터 '하나'는 인간과 자연이 하나로 연결되어 있다는 의미를 담고있다. 어린 시절부터 동물과의 교류에 주목해온 작가는 공존의 출발점은 상호 간의 깊은 교감이라 말한다. 작품 속에서 하나와 동행하는 문어 '두리'는 위협적인 존재가 아닌 지적인 생명체로서 친근하고 인간과 유사한 존재다. 소녀와 문어의 조합은 서로 다른 성장 환경과 외형을 가진 이들이 어떻게 소통하고 공존할 수 있는지를 보여주는 상징적 매개체인 것이다.ﾠ

이번 전시작들은 인간과 동물, 자연과 인간이라는 관계를 넘어 다른 배경과 모습을 가진 타인과 관계를 맺고 소통하는 과정까지 함께 살아가는 삶의 의미를 전하고자 한다. 깊은 심해를 탐구하거나 하늘을 날고 함께 여행을 가는 이들의 여정은 서로에 대한 이해없이 배척하기 쉬운 현대 사회에서 연대의 아름다움을 상기시킨다. 작가는 서로 다른 존재가 관계를 맺어가는 과정을 통해 관람객에게 공존의 메시지를 전달한다.

Artist Yang Jun is an emerging artist who graduated from the Department of Contemporary Art at Daegu University and is currently an exclusive artist at KIDARI GALLERY. The exhibition title, “TWO OF US,” embodies the themes of coexistence and communion that the artist has consistently explored, highlighting the moment when two distinct beings encounter one another and form a bond.

“Hana,” the young girl character who appears in the artwork, embodies the idea that humans and nature are interconnected. The artist, who has focused on interactions with animals since childhood, states that the starting point for coexistence is a deep mutual understanding. In the artwork, “Duri,” the octopus that accompanies Hana, is portrayed not as a threatening creature but as an intelligent, friendly being similar to humans. The pairing of the girl and the octopus serves as a symbolic medium illustrating how beings with different upbringings and appearances can communicate and coexist.

The works in this exhibition seek to convey the meaning of living together—not only through the relationships between humans and animals, or between humans and nature, but also through the process of forming connections and communicating with others from different backgrounds and with diverse appearances. The journeys of those who explore the deep sea, fly through the sky, or travel together remind us of the beauty of solidarity in a modern society where it is all too easy to reject others without understanding them. Through the process by which different beings form relationships, the artist conveys a message of coexistence to the viewers.
